The Writer of the Week was awarded to David!
David did two lovely pieces of writing based on an image last week. He used the image to write a descriptive setting. He then used that piece of writing to create a strip poem.
Please could you encourage anyone who shops at Asda in South Shields to ask for a token and drop it into ‘The Beacon Centre’ box.
We are ‘desperately’ trying to give our students the outdoor space they deserve.

Miss Lambert supported Charleigh in learning about the discovery of Tutankhamun. Charleigh really enjoyed the lesson and was very engaged when making a clay model of a Sphinx and a Pyramid.
At the Beacon Centre we believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
As a school we aim to offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities for learning provided by a range of activities conducted outside the classroom.
Enrichment enables students to develop key skills and the activities that will help to foster them. For all students the aims are:
As the activities take place outdoors, it is possible that student’s clothes could get dirty.
Please could students bring a change of clothes and footwear to wear for the activities to avoid their school clothes and shoes getting dirty. Depending on the activity and the weather, they may also require a waterproof coat and trousers, warm layers of clothing or wellies.

Today the students participated in a ‘County Lines’ 2 session presentation. The students were given real life information from an ex offender. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and were given true real life meaningful answers with examples of situations.
The students were really engaged and the session was successful as changed the mind-set of some of the students.
