Welcome To The Beacon Centre
The Beacon Centre (Alternative Education Behaviour Support Service) is a Pupil Referral Unit supporting children, young people and their families who, for a variety of reasons, are currently unable to access mainstream education.
We personalise our learning programmes to take into account individual needs, by offering a safe and nurturing environment with a focus on improving confidence and raising self-esteem. Whilst encouraging our students to grow, learn and make progress both academically and socially to achieve the best possible outcomes.
We believe that the provision ‘Leads the Way to a Brighter Future’ for all our pupils. We do this by offering extended learning opportunities through a more alternative curriculum which provides students with skills which equip them for life and to allow every pupil to move on successfully to the next step in their education, employment or training.

Sycamore Superstars!
Our brilliant Sycamore students have officially completed their study of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and what an adventure it’s been. From exploring the magic of Hogwarts to
diving into themes of friendship, courage, and curiosity, they’ve shown incredible insight every step of the way. This week, they wrapped up their learning with thoughtful, creative write‐ups and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort, imagination, and enthusiasm they poured into their work.

Dear Parent/Carer and our Amazing Year 11s,
We are delighted to invite you and your family to our Year 11 End‑of‑School Leavers’ Party, which will take place on Tuesday 7th July, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, at The Beacon Centre Secondary Site, Temple Park Road, in the school hall.
This year, our student prom committee has chosen a colour theme of gold, black and silver, and we are very excited to celebrate in style. Each student is welcome to attend with up to four family members.
As a PRU, we know that many of our young people have experienced difficult or disrupted educational journeys, including permanent exclusion from mainstream settings and significant gaps in learning. Despite this, they have shown resilience, humour, courage, and determination. This celebration is not just about the end of their GCSEs—it is about recognising how far they have come, the challenges they have overcome, and the incredible progress they have made. We are immensely proud of every one of them.
What to Expect
The afternoon will include:
· Food and refreshments
· Live music
· A warm, joyful celebration with staff, families, and friends
· Plenty of opportunities for photographs and memories
This event has been extremely popular in previous years, and we are looking forward to making it a wonderful occasion for our students and their families. There is no dress code – we want each of you to feel comfortable.
Leavers’ Hoodies
As in previous years, we will be ordering leavers’ hoodies for any student who would like one. Hoodies will only be ordered if requested, and available sizes are: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, and Extra Extra Large.
What We Need From You:
Please confirm the following no later than Friday 22nd May:
· Whether your child will be attending
· How many family members will be joining them (up to four)
· Whether your child would like a leavers’ hoodie and which size
Attendance and hoodie requests can be confirmed by contacting our school office or emailing:
· [email protected] (prom organiser)
· [email protected] (Deputy Headteacher)
We look forward to celebrating our incredible Year 11 students and giving them the send‑off they truly deserve.
Yours faithfully,
Jess Payne
