Key Stage 3 students visited the River Derwent near Rowlands Gill, earlier in the day they had decorated stones with positive affirmations and messages for Mental Health Day. Students enjoyed a woodland walk leaving their stones for others to find and also enjoyed a walk down to the river bank.

To celebrate young minds this week, The Beacon Centre hosted a number of events across both sites with personalised lessons, activities and a conference call to link up the two sites. A great day was had by all and the message was clear throughout.

8th October 2020
Today in Science students in KS3a investigated ‘Forces’. We set up two different sized paper clips and measured the attractive force using a ruler. We found the smaller paper clip had a more attractive force.

As most people are aware at the weekend four young people tragically lost their lives.
Early indications from Northumbria Police are that some of the young people had been taking MDMA.
It is known that MDMA use and supply is occurring across the force area and does involve teenagers in our area.
Please spend time talking to your children about the dangers of drug use.

In The Green Room this week, Mark participated in an emotional resilience lesson. He enjoyed learning how to turn aggressive behaviour into assertive behaviour resulting in a more positive outcome.
