Today The Beacon Centre proudly welcomed Les Old and Steven Varty from the Co-op for the grand opening of our very own mock Co-op store set to tackle knife crime and antisocial behaviour in South Tyneside.

The Beacon Centre have chosen to receive a brand new learning zone. This looks and works like a real shop, however, it is a ‘Mocked up shop’. The resource will give students the opportunity to work on a number of education and social scenarios, including budgeting money, finance and anti-social behaviour. We look forward to the students accessing this new learning zone.

Some staff members came into school, some bringing their own children with them to celebrate the opening of the store. This gave them the opportunity to explore the shop and have a go on the till.
