The Beacon Centre has now started to introduce construction to the curriculum. Pupils can learn the principles of bricklaying as well as getting hands on experience.

Key Stage 3 students visited the River Derwent near Rowlands Gill, earlier in the day they had decorated stones with positive affirmations and messages for Mental Health Day. Students enjoyed a woodland walk leaving their stones for others to find and also enjoyed a walk down to the river bank.

To celebrate young minds this week, The Beacon Centre hosted a number of events across both sites with personalised lessons, activities and a conference call to link up the two sites. A great day was had by all and the message was clear throughout.

Today in Science students in KS3a investigated ‘Forces’. We set up two different sized paper clips and measured the attractive force using a ruler. We found the smaller paper clip had a more attractive force.
