River Dewent

Friday 9th October 2020

Key Stage 3 students visited the River Derwent near Rowlands Gill, earlier in the day they had decorated stones with positive affirmations and messages for Mental Health Day.  Students enjoyed a woodland walk leaving their stones for others to find and also enjoyed a walk down to the river bank.

Today in Science students in KS3a investigated ‘Forces’.   We set up two different sized paper clips and measured the attractive force using a ruler. We found the smaller paper clip had a more attractive force.

Police Safety Announecment

As most people are aware at the weekend four young people tragically lost their lives.

Early indications from Northumbria Police are that some of the young people had been taking MDMA.

It is known that MDMA use and supply is occurring across the force area and does involve teenagers in our area.

Please spend time talking to your children about the dangers of drug use.

Emotional Resilience Lesson

In The Green Room this week, Mark participated in an emotional resilience lesson. He enjoyed learning how to turn aggressive behaviour into assertive behaviour resulting in a more positive outcome.

We were very lucky this week as Mr Popple led us on our school assembly (what day is Friday…The BEST day of the week!) Our children have displayed some fantastic work this week. In class 1 the winner with the most dojos was Lacey and in Class 2 there were joint winners Tyler and Connor who have all shown great effort throughout the week.

Hands, Face, Space Video

The ‘Hands, Face, Space’ campaign urges everyone to continue to wash their hands, cover their face and make space to control infection rates. The NHS has released a ‘Hands. Face. Space.’ video that may be a useful resource when communicating the importance of wearing a face covering on transport directly to children and young people.
