The Beacon Centre AEBSS (Alternative Education &Behaviour Support Service)
is designated as a Pupil Referral Unit and as such is a short stay provision. However we do offer a broad and enriched curriculum which follows the new National Curriculum.
The curriculum information within this section includes the overview of topics to be covered across the whole year and some may not be covered during any particular pupils stay at the centre.
Also it must be noted that due to the size of the provision, pupils may be taught in mixed year group classes which may also influence the order in which topics are covered. Also the lessons are fully differentiated to meet individual pupil’s needs and ensure progression
At Key stage 1 we use the Letters and Sounds scheme for the delivery of Phonics. Each child is assessed upon entry and a personalised phonics delivery programme is then used to ensure each pupil makes the appropriate progress during their time with us.
